White discharge is very common in young girls or women of childbearing age. Girls or Women should not worry if white discharge is low, but if this white discharge flow is in excess then definitely need to be treated. Sometimes this may be due to vaginal infections and symptoms may include excessive white discharge, pain, itching or burning when peeing. These types of infections are often treated with antibiotics.
But many times women do not have any symptoms except excessive white discharge and use of antibiotics is not recommended in such cases.
Research has found that Vitamin D deficiency is an important risk factor for excessive white discharge and can be treated effectively by correcting vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D is an important nutrient that supports the immune system to fight off bacterial or viral infections especially around the vagina. Daily intake of 1000 – 2000 IU of Vitamin D for 3-4 months is considered safe for treating white discharge.
