Home Remedies for Managing Viral Fever: Expert Tips from Dietician Priyanka | Bite And Diet

Our usual body temperature is around 98.6°F (37°C). Anything above this is considered a fever.

These days most of us are suffering from viral fever that last for more than 3 weeks. Often we get worried in such cases because we could not find out the cause of such fever and even medicines don’t respond. Taking medicine for long like paracetamol, Ibuprofen, aspirin etc. ..even if it is not responding is not a good idea as it may cause damage to your liver.

If this is happening with you then here I am sharing some tips that you can do to manage your symptoms.

1.   Keep yourself cool - Dip your feet in normal water (neither too hot nor too cold) , which will feel cool when you have a fever or give yourself a sponge bath with water till your body temperature drops.

2.   Drink kadha – Giloy acts wonderful in reducing chronic fever. Recipe of panchratnakadha

3.   Keep yourself hydrated Drink fluids like coconut water, lemon water, lassi, vegetable soup, fruit juice with added salt etc. to replenish water and electrolytes lost due to sweat.

4.   Take rest - Try to avoid excessive physical activity. Aim for seven to eight hours of sleep at night and one to two hours during the day. You can go for light walk during morning and evening to breathe in fresh air.

5.   Eat soft diet – Avoid taking heavy meals as your body is already working hard to combat viral infection. You can take fruits.

Here I am sharing a diet plan that you can follow during fever.
